Platelet-Rich Plasma

Platelet Rich Plasma

PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP) OVERVIEW

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is made from the client’s blood that contains a concentrated number of platelets (the cells responsible for blood clotting). These platelets also have proteins and growth factors that help repair injured and inflamed tissue, encourage healing and tissue function.

To create platelet-rich plasma, a sample of blood is taken from the patient and place it into a centrifuge that spins the sample, separating out the other components of the blood from the platelets and concentrating them within the plasma.

After creating platelet-rich plasma from a patient’s blood sample, that solution is injected into the target area this would increase the concentration of specific bio proteins, called growth factors, in a specific area.

The mechanism behind PRP injections is not completely understood. Studies show that the increased concentration of growth factors in platelet-rich plasma may stimulate or speed up the healing process, shortening healing time for injuries, decreasing pain and even encouraging hair growth and skin restoration.

PRP injections have been used for a range of conditions, such as musculoskeletal, Urogenital (erectile dysfunction, female sex drive disorders in addition to cosmetic applications such as hair growth promotion and skin restorative therapy)

Platelet-Rich Plasma or PRP is a form of cosmetic injectable treatment that uses the client’s own platelet rich plasma. The plasma component contains stem cells and growth rich platelets. When injected back into the skin, it accelerates the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin to provide overall skin rejuvenation.  It can be used not only on the face but also the neck, decollete, back of the hands or other areas of the body demonstrating signs of skin aging. It can also be used for Hair Rejuvenation.
