Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation removing the outermost layers of dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz). It rejuvenates the skin tissue leaving the skin immediately smooth and glowing.

Dermaplaning uses a tool to exfoliate unlike the Microdermabrasion which uses a machine. This treatment is performed on the face and not recommended for use around the eye area (including eyebrows). It can also be performed on the neck and back as it is a great treatment for skin congestion and the removal of vellus hairs along with dead skin. Dermaplaning can be done every 3 to 4 weeks. We want the skin to complete its normal skin cycle of approximately 30 days. It is not recommended to treat the skin more often than that.

Frequently Asked Questions

All skin types with the exception of stage 3/4 acne or an overproduction of sebum.

Nope! It is physiologically impossible for your vellus hairs (peach fuzz) to grow back thicker from Dermaplaning. Once the hair is cut, it has a blunt edge. The blunt edge does not mean the hair structure itself has been altered. The factors that can affect the quality of hair (making it darker/thicker) are things such as genetics, hormones and medication.
This treatment is completely painless. During the treatment, you may experience a tingling sensation. After the treatment, it is common to have redness or feel like your skin is "wind burnt" 2-3 days after the treatment.
There is no downtime with this treatment.
Yes, you can. Dermaplaning is a facial itself but it is possible to add it to a Facial, Chemical Peel or a Microdermabrasion treatment.
